Congregation
Part of our vision is to help our students comfortably participate in services. To that end, Junior Congregation Services, a Saturday morning service tailored for Religious School students, is part of the Religious School requirements. Students can also gain an appreciation and increased comfort level of services by attending Friday evening services and holiday services as well as other specially-created programs to serve this purpose. In order to achieve the full benefit from Junior Congregation, your child has the flexibility to choose from the below list to meet the 20 hours required to gain the maximum benefit:
Each child is required to complete a minimum
of 10 Saturday Junior Congregation Services for a total of
20 hours. Each Saturday Junior Congregation is 2 hours. Junior Congregation is offered from 10am to 12am on the following Saturdays:

6 hours can be completed from a mixing of any
of the following:

Kadima
overnight trip (3 hours)

Saturday Junior Congregation Services (2
hours)

B’Nai Mitzvah services accompanied by parents
(2 hours)

Simchat
Torah, Megillah reading, Yom Hashoah, Shavuot,
Israeli Day Parade (2 hours each)

One
Friday class Shabbat dinner with Cantor Toren
followed by services (2 hours)

One
Sunday “lunch and learn” for parents and
children with Cantor Toren (2 hours)

Friday
evening services (1 hour)

For
Dalet and Hey students only: Leading a Friday
service at the Chelsea Home from 4-4:30pm (1
hour)
In order to ensure that your child receives Junior Congregation credit, the child must pull his/her card from the attendance box and the parent must notify the Religious School of attendance at another synagogue.
All students who satisfy the 20-hour Junior Congregation requirement will receive a Certification of Completion. Any student attending 10 or more Saturday morning Junior Congregations will receive special recognition.
