Candlestick - May for June 2008

The merry month of May has passed and now we are in the jubilant month of June. Sisterhood is looking forward to being able to partake in post-Memorial Day celebrations. And I am not just talking about the fact that we can now officially wear white shoes and white handbags…no…I am referring to the upcoming Donor Event!  Boeing-Boeing received rave reviews, and with a cast like Christine Baranski, Mark Rylance, Bradley Whitford, and Gina Gershon, it is no wonder that there is terrific buzz about this new show on Broadway. Sisterhood members can take the opportunity to make their reservations for June 11 to fly to the Great White (Run)Way. A light dinner and transportation to and from PBJC are included. RSVP as soon as possible as space is limited. A special thank you goes to Gail Feldman and Aileen Cabelly for their hard work in making this yet another fantastic Donor Event.

I should not forget about the wonderful May programs, especially the Z’Havah Havdallah Pajama Party – many thanks go to Michelle Zuckerman and Monica Citron (our Z’Havah Chairs), and Rabbi Finkel. This year, Sisterhood’s “younger” women’s programs were met with a revitalized spirit which can only come from dedication and commitment from our Z’Havah Chairs. I would again like to thank Michelle and Monica for all their hard work, and look forward to many more programs in the future.

This leads me to a moment of reflection. I would like to thank everyone on the Sisterhood Board, committee chairs, advisors, mentors, friends, contributors, sounding boards, and sometimes therapists during the past year. I could never have believed that the year would have gone so quickly. I look forward to working with everyone again, to seeing new faces of members and active participants, to encouraging new people to get involved and be part of a wonderful family. Installation of officers takes place on June 13, . Please come to what can only be described as a night of community, filled with warmth and anticipation for another year of Sisterhood camaraderie. I appreciate every Sisterhood member – please continue as the example for every woman, daughter, teenager, toddler, niece granddaughter (you get the idea!).

Thank you again. Have a wonderful summer. Shalom, Eve Fields, Sisterhood President
