Men’s Club

The PBJC Men’s Club fosters cultural, social, and religious activities and programs for the members of the Men’s Club, Synagogue youth, the congregation and the community.  In addition, we seek to promote understanding and awareness of Jewish heritage among our members and their children.  Membership is open to any adult Jewish male of the congregation.  Dues are $75 annually and cover all events.

Men’s Club President’s Message:

My first task as PBJC Men’s Club President is to thank Steve Gothelf for his many, many years of service as Men’s Club President. Many of our members do not remember a time when Steve was not president. For those of you who do not already know me, my name is Jay Thailer and my wife Ilene and I moved to Pine Brook in 2003 and have been PBJC members ever since. Ilene is the immediate past President of Sisterhood and I have been helping with the information technology at the shul since 2003.

I hope everyone had a great summer and is looking forward to the high holidays and fall activities. There will be blast emails and other notifications of upcoming Men’s Club events and as always, we need volunteers for various functions that the Men’s Club is responsible for.

Please watch for an announcement for our fall welcome back BBQ. We look forward to seeing past and new members of the Men’s Club.

The Men’s Club is responsible for building (and taking down) the sukkah each year. I will be sending out an email with the dates and time. We usually meet on the Sunday morning before the holiday and take down is the following week.

Our annual Man-of-the Year dinner is scheduled for Wednesday evening November 8th. This is always a well-attended special evening because we have the opportunity to honor one of our own. Stay tuned, we will soon be announcing this year’s (2017-2018) PBJC Man-of-the-Year recipient!

To be successful, we do need your help and participation. You will soon receive your Men’s Club bill for our annual dues. We never ask for additional money, the dues cover your participation in all our events and activities. However, we do ask that you join and support YOUR Men’s Club.

If you have any questions, suggestions, comments, ideas, counsel, recommendations, remarks, advice or corrections, please let me know!

On behalf of the Men’s Club, I would like to wish all of you SHANA TOVA! May the New Year bring you and your family health, happiness, and blessings. May the coming year fulfill all your wishes and hopes.

Jay Thailer
Men’s Club President
