Men’s Club

The PBJC Men’s Club fosters cultural, social, and religious activities and programs for the members of the Men’s Club, Synagogue youth, the congregation and the community.  In addition, we seek to promote understanding and awareness of Jewish heritage among our members and their children.  Membership is open to any adult Jewish male of the congregation.  Dues are $75 annually and cover all events.

Men’s Club News:

There was a very special Men’s Club sponsored event Sunday, February 1st. It’s called the “World Wide Wrap” and this was the eleventh year that the PBJC participated. It has become a tradition that Jewish families around the globe gather at their synagogues and put on Tefillin to experience the mitzvah and wrap themselves in the words and spirit of holiness. This world-wide event is a fixture in synagogues throughout North America and in Australia, India, Europe, and South America. All that participated at the PBJC understood that the World Wide Wrap program focuses on a unique ritual imbued with story and metaphor that spans ages and generations. Following, was a great breakfast buffet for all to enjoy. Each year this tradition grows and we thank our program chairman, Don Rosenthal for all his effort.

The Men’s Club sponsored our annual Superbowl / Matzah-ball pool. It’s a fun way to enjoy the game, support the Men’s Club and at the same time win some “Matzah-ball$”. The winners of this year’s pool are: 1st Quarter: Dave Bornstein (150 Matzah-ball$), 2nd Quarter: Keith Bobier (200 Matzah-ball$), 3rd Quarter: Keith Bobier (150 Matzah-ball$), and our big winner with the Final Score: Jason Benson (500 Matzah-ball$). Thanks to all who participated and congratulations to the winners!

If you like sports and you missed out on our Superbowl / Matzah-ball pool, don’t worry because the Men’s Club is sponsoring our annual NCAA March Madness bracket pool, it’s right around the corner and it’s another opportunity to join in on all the fun.

Hopefully you stopped by the Men’s Club Wine Tasting at the Purim Carnival on Sunday morning March 8th. You experienced many of the kosher for Passover wines that the Men’s Club is selling this year. You discussed with our wine “connoisseurs” how to enjoy the nuances and details of our great wines. You judged our wines by the quality of their bouquet and taste and, at the same time had a whole lot of fun! Thanks to Mickey Gilbert, our wine expert, for organizing this fun and educational event.

Some other events scheduled are: the Yom HaShoah Yellow Candle program and, of course, some great breakfasts.  Watch for further details on these and other events and programs.

Please contact us with any questions, suggestions, ideas, recommendations, proposals or comments.
