“June News” from Pine Brook Jewish Center Nursery School

It is hard to believe that June is almost upon us and with that comes the end of another school year.  The preschoolers have all grown in many ways – cognitively, physically, emotionally and spiritually.  It is always with a heavy heart that the teachers and their students say goodbye to one another at the end of any school year but knowing that the students have learned so much, makes it rewarding to know that many lessons will certainly last a lifetime!

The month of June will begin with our annual Truck Day.  A menagerie of vehicles will fill the parking lot one morning, allowing the preschoolers to look at, listen to and climb on so many different vehicles – firetruck, police car, ambulance, tow trucks, dump trucks, cranes, back hoes, sweepers, school buses and so much more.  The timing and viewing of these vehicles is all donated year after year by different departments of the township, as well as some private companies.  You can imagine how awesome an experience Truck Day truly is!!

Of course, with Shavuot just around the corner, the preschoolers will discuss the importance of rules and will create their own commandments for themselves and their classmates.

The 4’s students have been preparing for the performance of a lifetime – Preschool Graduation!!!  This is a HUGE event each year, as the 4’s students and their teachers sing songs to entertain their parents and receive diplomas as well.  The graduates will also receive a few additional gifts on behalf of PBJCNS.  Last year, an audience of 225 people was in attendance!

The school year will then sadly end on Friday, June 13th.  The students will be entertained, once again, by Lulu the Clown.  You can imagine how emotional a day the final day of school is – not only for the preschoolers and staff but for many parents as well.

Camp Yeladim Tovim, our preschool summer mini camp, begins on Monday, June 30th.  A fun summer is planned for our campers, including arts & crafts, sports, cooking, water play and so much more.  Since camp only runs Mondays-Thursdays, some children have even registered to take part in sports with Coach Joe , held on Friday mornings at PBJCNS.

A BIG thank you to our volunteers who have helped to assist in so many ways this year.  Parents run programs, oversee and serve hot lunch every week, shop and schlep for me, arrange for and deliver items collected at our drives, take pictures all year long,  arrange for luncheons for the staff, assist in coverage of the classrooms when necessary - the list is endless!  Almost every parent has helped out in one way or another and I am ever so grateful to you all, as is the staff and of course, your own children!!  Thanks so much to PBJCNS co-chairs, Rachel Krupnick and Ellen Mass , for helping to oversee that all ran smoothly at our school this past year.  This role is truly a major undertaking!  Thank you as well to Jamie Mach , VP of Education.  Jamie went from PBJCNS co-chair for two years, to assisting us as our VP – another job that takes a lot of time.  Thank you as well to Alan Rothberg and Mitch Goldsmith , co-chairs of the synagogue House committee.  Alan knows how the entire synagogue runs and is always so quick to oversee any problems that may arise in the nursery school.  As for Mitch, he responds immediately and is always willing to assemble any new item(s) that may require his assembly and patience.

Have a most enjoyable and relaxing summer.  We will see you all again in September!
